Prologue: A Gathering of Heroes - Part 4

He ties his chain with trinkets back to his belt again so he can use both his hands to examine the envelope. He scratches the partially cracked wax with one of his dirty nails. Impatiently, he tears it off and rips apart the silver envelope. He puts it in his backpack, still aware not to pollute his own forest, and starts reading.

“Bruq Xantree, Hunter of Monsters,

Without going through all the pleasantries of elaborate introductions, I want to call for your help. We, the angelic beings of the Silver Circle, have been studying all life in your world and none of them look as promising as you.
I shall not shroud our request in mystery, hunter. Our prophecy speaks of a few heroes, whose goal in life is to save this world as we know it and the worlds beside ours. We have our reasons to believe you are one of these saviors.”

With a slightly overconfident smile he looks at the letter. “Well, obviously”, he says aloud, only adding to his cocky demeanor.

“I would like to personally tell you all about the mission we have in mind for you, but I can fully understand that a hunter of your qualities doesn’t want to travel without knowing if he is about to waste his time. This is a quality I like about you, satyr.

Something important was stolen from us, something that can tip the scales of fate of this world if it got into the wrong hands. When I say it goes wrong, I mean absolute oblivion.
These men are the absolute lowest of low and we want them punished. For reasons I’ll explain later, I can’t do it myself, although I would love to send them to the Nine Hells myself.

I know you aren’t always interested in money, but you have a weakness for your lucky charms.”

Slightly astonished by the knowledge this person has about him he lets his spare hand slide over his trinkets, hoping they will protect him from whatever this stranger is hiring him for.

“I think I can offer you something you would greatly appreciate. It will be a magnificent addition for your collection. I would like to offer you, beside a rich amount of gold pieces, an angel’s feather, one of mine to be specific.”
His mouth falls open. “An angelic feather!”, he shouts excited, as his voice echoes between the giant trees. No matter what he needs to hunt, flay or slay, he’s in!

“I expect you to travel to Crimson Gulch. If my predictions are correct - and they are - you should arrive at the same moment as your future companions if you leave now. Make haste, bring me what I want and the feather is yours. More details will follow if you choose to show up. We both know you will.
Yours sincerely,

Hadriel, First Descendant of the Seraphim”

He puts the letter away and releases a high pitched sigh. “Luckily, I have already packed”, he laughs and picks up his glaive.
He looks up to the sun, one eye white and the other still damaged from the acid attack from just a day ago, and navigates his way into the right direction.
“Off to next adventure it is!”
