Chapter 2.30: The Enochian Tower

A malformed creature towers over them, pieces of his body constantly falling off and drying up as they touch the ground. The shape of his body, somewhere between the state of solid and liquid, is like Dargothoth, but bigger. He has the same kind of wings, same tail, even the devilish glow in the golem’s pupil-free eyes are just as uncanny. It points at the draconian cleric. More small bits drip down of his finger.
“We should keep our distance”, Oslando shouts and he pulls his swords in case the monstrosity will come after him.

The metal’s sound draws the attention of the red giant. To maintain an eye on his initial target, its head splits in two parts. The right half moves to his shoulder to look at the half-elf and the left half focuses on Dargothoth. The monster flaps his right wing and more than half of it comes loose. It launches it at Oslando, who is just fast enough to dash towards the side. As the pounds of blood hit the ground, it turns hard and black.
“Or we can rip him apart”, the half-elf says and he wipes away the few spatters that hit his face. “Dargothoth, he’s all yours.”
The cleric takes his suggestion wholeheartedly. The blood golem slams one of his claws to the ground, but Dargothoth spins around quickly and slaps the hand away with his tail. He uses the speed of his turn to put extra power behind the swing of his sceptre. He bashes it straight through its leg, separating almost half of it with one blow.

Lyssa points her gun at the golem. She fires it at his split head, but it slides back just in time to dodge the bullet.
“I don’t know if projectiles can hit him”, she says, bummed out with missing the shot. “You guys try something.”
As she says that, an arrow flies from Bruq’s longbow. It makes a sharp whistling sound as it soars across the room. It hits the monster in what should resemble a chest. The redness around it solidifies and turns necrotic. A chunk, half the size of Bruq, breaks of and bursts into little pieces on the floor.
Mero, looking at the wavy surface of his body, notices the same magic that he tried to inspect before. It looks like the liquid is boiling, which gives him the idea for his next attack. Aiming at its center, he shoots forward a thin blue and white ray, cooling the air around it. It turns a part of the monster’s body deep red, almost black, with a thin layer of frost upon it.
As the golem moves somewhat slower than he did before, the sound of cracking ice echoes loudly throughout the room.
“I see”, Lyssa says with a sound of disappointment in her tuneful voice. “I guess mine was just a lousy shot.”

Not willing to risk being the easy target for any other bleeding body parts launched his way, Oslando closes in on the large abomination. He draws its attention once again. The golem lifts up his colossal arm just in time to evade the swing of the fighter’s blades. It holds its limb above him. An eerie shadow casts down on him.
And then half of the arm falls off. The gory mass falls down and crashes on Oslando, giving him a heavy blow to the head and completely painting his appearance in the shade of the reanimated blood.
The half-elf coughs and sneezes to eliminate the small clots of blood that found a way into his body. He wipes away the blood around his eyes and sees how the blood golem’s wing disappears and the lost limb regrows.
As the creature does so, Dargothoth sees his chance to strike again. He goes in, announcing his attacks with a frenzied roar, and slams his sceptre twice through the creature’s left leg. Slabs of clotting blood are splattered across the room, but the gap that he created between its upper leg and foot is restored.
The golem shrinks a bit in size and is now the same size as the butchering cleric. His left claw changes shape and turns into a scythe-like blade. As it comes at Dargothoth with a wide and somewhat slow swing, the priest easily keeps the blow away from his body by bashing his shield against it.
The red giant roars again, but it’s much louder this time. The room shakes and the red lights light up again for a short flash. Six groups of tendrils shoot up into the air, five of them red as blood and one with a diaphanous white gas inside of it. They enter the blood golem’s body at different places with a wide arch and make it grow once again, but this time there’s something different. No wings or other dragon-like features form. Instead, its foul head turns into a more human shape, looking like a woman in her early twenties.
“Vanessa”, Dargothoth says ominously, “always a pleasure.”
But it doesn’t stop there as three other heads sprout out of it: two on its shoulders and one at the back of the monstrosity’s current face. On the right shoulder appears the head of a man with long hair that looks at the person it very much resembles: Oslando. At the back of its head grow two curly horns and a dripping goatee at the chin of the new face: Bruq. On the left shoulder grows a head that isn’t only red, but also has glowing white features in it. It should be the face of Merodius, but it doesn’t look anything like his current form. Instead, a humanoid head appears with long floating hair and bright shining eyes stare at the puppet.
“Oh my”, the sorcerer stammers as he looks back at it, completely taken by the image for a former life. “Is that me?”
